Galaxia is looking for a motivated engineering co-op student to join our team to work on RF and Communications projects for an 8 to 16 month co-op term. You will support hands-on development and testing across our satellite and wireless communications programs, working on real hardware and systems.

Responsibilities

Based in our Halifax office, the RF & Communications Engineering Co-Op reports to the SATCOM Systems Engineer and assists with software development, hardware design, testing, and documentation for RF and antenna systems.

RF & Antenna Design

  • Supporting the design, testing, and characterization of RF and antenna systems

PCB & Hardware Bring-Up

  • Assisting with PCB-level circuit design, assembly, and bring-up for RF front-end components

Systems Integration & Testing

  • Participating in systems integration and test activities, including hardware-in-the-loop testing and RF link verification

Documentation & Reporting

  • Contributing to documentation, test plans, and technical reporting

Work Term:

  • Fall (September 2026), Winter (January 2027), or Summer (May 2027) start date
  • 8-16 month co-op term
Requirements

What we look for:

  • Currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related program
  • Coursework or hands-on exposure in one or more of the following areas:
    • Antenna design and/or RF propagation
    • Analog/RF circuit design
    • Systems integration and testing
  • Comfortable working in a lab environment with RF test equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

What sets you apart:

  • Familiarity with Software-Defined Radio platforms, GNU Radio and related tools
  • Experience with signal processing concepts or digital communications
  • Exposure to satellite systems or aerospace applications
